Biological attributes

Phenology Floración
Plant description Tree to ~ 20 m. Cauline flowers in pairs from same peduncle. White corolla with more than 8 petals. Yellow blending to pink filaments fused at the base in yellow androphore and bending inwards at the top. Bright orange-yellow anthers. Marsillian soap smell (pleasant).
Locality and habit remarks Tropical, lowland, evergreen, mid-Magdalena type rainforest on karst. W facing riverbank, very sunny in dry season. Sandy soil. Balanophoraceae parasitising the roots. Forest on E side of the Rio Claro river, past the bridge from the Blue Morpho. Walk approx. 60 m direction N following the river.
