Biological attributes

Plant description Tree, 12 m. Trunk bifurcated from base. Branching pattern Cordia-like with three or more branches from one point, young twigs reddish brown. Odor of essential oils. Leaf undersurface yellowish green, dull green on the upper surface. Reduced panicules, less than 5 cm, in the young nodes between leaves with short internodes, flower buds green with hyalinus trichomes, mature flowers pale orange. Cupule fleshy red with lenticels brown. Drupe (immature) green with light dots.
Locality and habit remarks Tropical, lowland, evergreen, mid-Magdalena type rainforest on limestone. Probably cultivated, growing in front of the Blue Morpho Eco Hotel.
