Plant description | Tree up to 25 m & 69 cm DBH; leaning at 50 degrees in umbrella span, angular messy branching from nodes; trunk musculate; dull brown outer bark with horizontal lenticels; orange inner bark, smells sweet/citrus, wood cream; branches brown at maturity and green young stems turning red at peduncles; inflorescences cream in bud, white corollas with granulate textured petals, flowers smell like honey; fruit recepticle green with dull purple at fruit stem, lime green young fruit. |
Locality and habit remarks | Lowland evergreen rainforest in Magdelana Valley; tree on left side of river off lowest path and leans over the river from rocky outcrop from forest floor full of Ferns, Araceae, Cyclantaceae; canopy tree flowering in opening over river. Follow main path along river South from Rio Claro Nature Reserve Blue Morpho resort. |
