Phenology	Floración
Plant description	Terrestrial clump forming herb to 3 m. Each leafy shoot contains 3-4 leaves. Flattened base of shoot around 5 cm long and 4 cm wide. Pseudostem to 1.6 m. All above-ground vegetative parts of plant green. Petiole 50-90 cm. Lamina to 100 x 25 cm with a cuneate base. Inflorescence terminal and erect with 4 to 6 colored bracts. Bracts filled with liquid and pale yellow, becoming red on upper lateral sides of bract. Flowers yellow.
Locality and habit remarks	Magdalena Valley evergreen lowland tropical rainforest on karst. Along south-facing side of creek with open canopy. Located on La Mulata creek travelling west from the road leading to Rio Claro.
