Biological attributes

Phenology Floración
Plant description A terrestrial herb growing up to 2 m with terminal inflorescences exceeding leaves. Stinging hairs are present on leaves and orange flowers. Petiole length is 11-16 cm, lamina is up to 30 x 25 cm. Stems run along the groung before branching into ascending flowering shoots.
Locality and habit remarks Habitat is Andrean cloud forest. Growing on dry, flat ground next to a creek in a gully where there was a gap in the canopy. The plants had grown to form a stand filling the gap, with young tree ferns and Araceae plants around. Follow Humedal trail west of park headquarters for 50 m until you reach an unnamed creek. Then follow the creek along the east bank heading south about 20 m.
