Biological attributes

Phenology Floración
Plant description Shrub to ~ 50 cm with green, pubescent stems. Leaves and stipules are pubescent. Bracts are red. Flowers are tubular and yellow.
Locality and habit remarks Magdalena Valley tropical, evergreen, lowland forest on karst. Collected plant is growing on red clay and is locally not abundant. Surrounded by Melastomataceae, Cyclanthaceae, many grasses and ferns. Tree canopies are about 10 to 15 m high. From main gate of RÝo Claro Nature Reserve entrance, walking up Bogotß-Medellin highway towards MedellÝn. Turning left on dusty road (300 degree bearing; W-N-W) opposite the cement factory. Approx. 308 m up trail, on a cliff of track facing south,
