Phenology	Floración
Plant description	Rare terrestrial herb to 2 m. Leafy shoot 6 cm apart on clumping rhizome. Leaves 38 x 15.5 cm, petiole 1.5 cm, petiole & midrib with red hue, internode up to 9cm, ligule to 1 cm. Inflorescence terminal to leafy shoot, ovoid 7.5 x 4.5 cm. Bracts dark reddish marroon at apex with subapical yellow-green line; secondary bracts cream, red in upper quarter. Calyx reddish. Corolla tube very pale yellow, 3 lobes also pale yellow & translucent. Labellum dark red-burgandy, darker towards apex, 3 apical lobes, central lobe shorter with a central yellow band (4 mm width) yellow hairs on inner surface which is reticulated, outside is dark red & cream. Anther cream with burgandy tip to crest.. Ovary cream, style white, stigma pale yellow. Immature fruit white, white seeds with translucent aril.

Approximately 1 km WNW of the Ecocementos cement factory on the Bogota-Medellin Highway, 500 m towards Medellin from the entrance to the RÝo Claro Natural Reserve canyon. ~500 m along steep track up hill..
